Our story started in 2016 when our founders, David and Fiona, launched MHM Pension Services Ltd. Determined to bring a professional, quality offering with the essence of family and unity they decided to use the initials of their children in the name.
We are authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. Based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, our team combines more than 100 years of experience of working for a range of firms within the UK pensions, employee benefits and engagement sectors.
MEET THE TEAM
David Hodgson

David has been working with employers and pension scheme trustees for more than 30 years and, together with his wife, Fiona, set up MHM in September 2016 as an independent business. A fellow of the Pensions Management Institute (FPMI), David has vast experience of different types of schemes and is currently working with trustees of both defined benefit and defined contribution pension schemes, as well as advising employers on funding negotiations, pension de-risking options and compliance with their duties in connection with auto-enrolment.
David is married with three grown-up children. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf at Oakdale golf club in Harrogate - and other places, if invited - and he also follows Arsenal and Leeds United; enjoying most sports.
Fiona Hodgson

As a director of MHM, Fiona is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the company and she also provides administration support in relation to pension and insurance schemes for a number of our clients. Her career in financial services started with S.G. Ingram: Actuary Limited in 1993, with various roles (and various company names!) over 22 years. Fiona is married to David with three grown up children. In her spare time she enjoys cooking and reading and loves watching rugby union.
Steve Button

Steve’s career in pensions started at one of the large consulting firms in London where he trained to be an actuary. After qualifying as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, he moved to Yorkshire and was a Scheme Actuary for over 20 years until he changed direction to become a professional trustee.
Steve has extensive experience of helping trustee boards in the areas of scheme management and governance, and has also performed the Scheme Secretary role for a wide variety of pension schemes.
Dianne Binns

Dianne started her career in London as an investment consultant at Mercer. As a CFA charterholder, she specialised in investment strategy work and the implementation of risk management solutions for pension schemes. After 15 years in consultancy, she moved into investment management (Schroders, Standard Life and L&G) to better understand the implementation of recommended strategies.
After 22 years in finance, Dianne swapped pensions for pencils and re-trained as a Physics teacher in a large state school in York. Having taken the decision to return to pensions after four years of teaching, Dianne is looking forward to using her enhanced communication and mediation skills as a trustee.
Dianne lives in York with her family and their three cats. She loves yoga, art, wine and travelling.
Andrew Scopes

Andrew is a pensions enthusiast, keen to ensure that adequate pension provision is an achievable goal for all and that accumulated pension benefits are secure for the future.
Andrew began his career in an actuarial consulting environment and was admitted as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2011. His career took a major turn in 2018 when he was elected as a Councillor for his local area in Leeds. He focused on his role as an elected representative (and looking after his children) for the next seven years. During this time, he maintained his involvement in the pensions world as a quasi-trustee for the West Yorkshire Pension Fund, a role he has held since May 2018.
Following his youngest child's start at secondary school in 2024 giving him more time in his week, Andrew was delighted to be appointed as a Trustee Director of MHM in February 2025. This role allows him to transition from his lay trustee position with the WYPF to becoming a Professional Pension Scheme Trustee.

Alex began her career at Prudential before moving back to Harrogate where she worked for S.G. Ingram and its various successors as a client administrator. She spent a brief spell working for an investment management company before joining MHM Pensions where she is responsible for providing client administration and support.
Harriet Palmer

Harriet joined MHM in 2021 and, for those who know the origin of the company name, she is the “H” of MHM. Although new to the world of pensions and employee benefits, she has worked in various customer service roles since graduating from Northumbria University, with a degree in Psychology, in 2013. Her personal interests include photography and most things crafty.

Sue moved to Harrogate in summer 2023 from Hertfordshire and started working at MHM Pensions soon after. She has a background in accountancy, having worked for various firms of chartered accountants and Hertfordshire County Council (Internal Audit).
She enjoys swimming, yoga and hill walking and is looking forward to discovering more of Harrogate and the surrounding area.
Emily Morrow
Emily is a local, having been born and bred in Harrogate. She joined the MHM team in 2024 after coming from a background of sales and recruitment. In her spare time she enjoys audiobooks, cooking and socialising with friends and family.
Catherine Brown
Catherine Brown
After completing a History Degree, Catherine started her career in credit control and then afterwards became an Accounts Receivable and Payable Manager before taking a 15-year break to become a full-time mum. Since then, she has worked in various finance roles and started at MHM in 2026.
Working With You
At MHM, our services cover all aspects of the design and management of pension and insurance schemes; providing information and guidance on everything from implementation to day-to-day administration to regulatory compliance. Where required, we can help with the discontinuance and wind up of schemes. Depending on your requirements, we can do this either as an expert advisor or as a professional independent trustee.
Our trustee directors are all fully authorised and we are able to act either as a sole trustee or as a co-trustee alongside others. Our services are subject to external audit under the AAF 02/07 framework. Insurance services cover benefits for employees and scheme members such as life assurance, spouse and dependent pensions, critical illness, income protection and private healthcare.
